Weatherproof Silicone Sealant

Weatherproof Sealant

Weatherproof Sealant is a one-component, neutral curing construction sealant which can provide a long-term, elastic, rubber seal design for normal building facade and glazing applications.

Weather sealant is engineered for superior durability in harsh outdoor environments. Designed to resist UV, rain, temperature changes, and aging, this weatherproofing silicone ensures long-term flexibility and strong adhesion across a wide range of building materials.

Ideal for construction, glazing, and general exterior sealing, it delivers reliable performance where ordinary sealants fail.

Key Features of Weatherproof Sealant

  • Excellent Weather Resistance
Withstands UV exposure, rain, wind, and extreme temperatures without cracking or shrinking.
  • Permanent Flexibility
Maintains elasticity over time, adapting to joint movement.
  • Strong Adhesion
Bonds well to glass, aluminum, concrete, ceramic, and most construction materials.
  • Neutral Cure Formula
Non-corrosive and safe for sensitive substrates like metal and stone.
  • Waterproof & Airtight Seal
Prevents water infiltration and air leakage in exterior joints.

Applications of Weatherproof Silicone:

  • Window and door sealing
  • Curtain wall and facade joints
  • Exterior wall sealing
  • Roofing and gutter sealing
  • Expansion and connection joints

It is suitable for both residential and commercial construction projects.

How to apply sealant:

1. Preparation & Environment

For a successful bond, ensure the temperature is between 5°C and 40°C with humidity below 80%. Never apply weatherproof sealant in rain or snow.

  • Essential Tools: Caulking gun, utility knife, scraper, masking tape, and cleaning solvent (alcohol).

  • Backing Material: For deep joints, insert a closed-cell foam rod. This prevents “three-sided adhesion,” allowing the weatherproof sealant to expand and contract without cracking.

2. Surface Cleaning (Critical)

Adhesion is only as good as the surface underneath.

  • Deep Clean: Use a lint-free cloth and solvent to remove oil, dust, rust, and old residue.

  • Dry Surfaces: The substrate must be 100% dry.

  • Masking: Apply tape to both edges of the seam to ensure a professional, clean finish and prevent contamination of the surrounding area.

3. Application & Tooling

Precision during application determines the lifespan of your weatherproof sealant.

  • Cut the Nozzle: Slice at a 45° angle, matching the width of your seam.

  • Steady Flow: Hold the gun at a 45° angle. Apply the weather sealant continuously at a constant speed, ensuring it fills the gap and covers the foam rod completely.

  • Smoothing: Within 10 minutes, use a scraper or dampened finger to firmly press the sealant into the joint. This removes air bubbles and creates a slightly concave, water-shedding surface.

  • Tape Removal: Peel off the masking tape immediately after smoothing while the sealant is still wet.

4. Curing and Inspection
  • Wait to Cure: The surface typically skins over in 24 hours, but full curing takes 3 to 7 days depending on depth and humidity. Keep the area ventilated and dry.

  • Final Check: Once cured, the weatherproof sealant should be highly elastic. Press it gently; it should immediately return to its original shape without separating from the edges.
